Topro Energy bolusThe Topro Energy bolus is a mineral dietary feed for dairy cows in the form of a bolus for oral administration, to reduce the risk of ketosis. It is a common condition at dairy cattle: ketosis, also known as lingering milk fever. Research has shown that in the first 2 months after calving, more than one in ten cows suffer from it (Veeteelt 2 Feb 2012). The percentage of cows suffering from subclinical ketosis is even higher. Ketosis is the result of a negative energy balance. This occurs because, after calving, the cow starts producing large amounts of milk and in this way requires more energy than it can produce.The Topro Energy bolus is fast dissolving and is administered to dairy cows after calving and during the start of milk production. The bolus contains quickly available energy in the form of calcium propionate.
