The pH-PILL is a bicarbonate bolus for cows that have problems with or to increase the pH value in the rumen during rumen acidosis (acidosis). The pH-PILL ensures that the rumen is balanced again. The bicarbonate directly increases the pH value in the rumen. Rumen acidosis occurs when the balance in the rumen is disturbed, for example due to a lack of structurally rich roughage or too rapid a build-up of concentrated feed (early lactation). Changes in the diet and heat stress can also cause rumen acidosis. As a result, the rumen can no longer function optimally. Consequently, the condition and milk yield of the cow decrease and the risk of metabolic diseases increases.
